We have such an awesome team of dedicated staff who strive to make a major impact in the lives of children to save a whole generation.
Joseph D. Perry is an author, father, husband, writer of curriculum, motivator, visionary, speaker, and servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Joseph D. Perry, son of a pastor, saw a need to save today’s youth from a future of hardship and decided to do something about it.
Joseph Perry witnessed too many of the young boys who did not know how to read or write while working as a youth minister in Los Angeles at the Faithful Central Bible Church under the leadership of Bishop Kenneth C. Ulmer (PhD).
He also witnessed too many youth who were dropping out of school at an alarming rate. Concerned about how the parenting role had declined, coupled with the failure of the school system, “Perry”, compelled to lay aside his Real Estate Career, was given a vision in the year 2000 to create the nonprofit organization “Boys2Men Girls2Women” I can’t sell anything else but life, hope and dreams.” Says Perry.
The Boys2Men Girls2Women Foundation believes that if you save one child, you save a whole generation. The mission of the fast-growing organization is to keep children in school, out of gangs,
off drugs and prevent teen pregnancy. Perry’s vision of the organization is to partner with universities by planting a Boys2MENGirls2WOMEN club in every university in America by adding a new university to its list every semester. Fresno State, UCLA, Cal State Fullerton, Sacramento State and Cal State LA have begun the process.
Perry felt that the church had no answer for the high illiteracy rate among church-going youth, and the education system has no answer for the high lack of faith. Perry believes you need both education and faith to survive in this world. After meeting the children’s educational needs for more than five years, Joseph Perry concluded in 2004, “It’s not enough. We are spinning our wheels just changing children on the outside.” He then began working on changing them from the inside, understanding that it can only be done through a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Four years after launching the Boys2MEN-Girls2Women Foundation, he felt God called and challenged him to create a church. The Boys2MEN-Girls2WOMEN would meet the physical needs while the church would meet their spiritual needs. During his twelve years of pasturing, he realized that the Bible study and Sunday school curriculum on the market, although basic, was still too advanced for his newly converted followers, in which many had never in life attended a church. He began writing specialized and tailor-made curriculum for what he called embryos in Christ. He believes a babe in Christ is different from an embryo in Christ. An embryo is an unborn or unhatched offspring that is in the process of development. They are even more elementary than babes. The majority of the curriculum he found was written to babes in Christ and felt God’s urging to create and write spiritual embryonic curriculum and study guides. It took ten years to write, develop, teach, and rewrite “First Steps in a Christian Life” study guide to what he thought was simply for the few sheep God had placed into his fold. God had bigger plans. He retired as a pastor after twelve years, published the curriculum and now is focused on full-time writing. God has called him to take this curriculum and translate it into many languages so it can be utilized in many countries around the world. Its sequel Second Steps in a Christian Life, along with his other writings and corresponding videos, is what he devotes his life to. “We’ve got to increase the spiritual maturity level of the world and we must do it drastically,” says Perry.
